This comprehensive one-day course equips participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to safely handle and manage medical gas systems. Designed for first responders, porters, and technicians, the program covers the properties and hazards of various medical gases, proper identification of cylinders, safe handling practices, and effective response to system alarms and emergencies. Participants will also gain a foundational understanding of piped medical gas systems, emergency reserve supplies, and the permit-to-work system to ensure safety and compliance in healthcare and facility management settings.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

– Identify properties and hazards of medical and pathology gases.

– Recognize medical gas cylinders by color codes, size, and labeling.

– Safely handle, transport, and store pressurized gas cylinders.

– Connect and disconnect gas cylinders to/from medical equipment safely.

– Respond effectively to system alarms, hazards, and emergencies.

– Understand the basics of hospital Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS).

– Operate emergency reserve supply systems in compliance with local directives.

– Observe and follow local reporting and safety procedures.
